Menace of the Monastery Competition

What is the Menace of the Monastery?

The Menace of the Monastery (MOM) competition of the Drunk Monk Challenge celebrates beer styles which can be traced to the monastic brewing traditions of Belgium and Germany. This unique competition is judged separately from the Drunk Monk Challenge. Menace of the Monastery beers do not make the Best of Show competition for the Drunk Monk Challenge. Special MOM awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

$6.00 per entry online at http://knaves.org/dmc. Make checks payable to UKG.

Entry requirements

Two bottles; same rules as the Drunk Monk Challenge. Add entries by using the special custom style category of 29A Menace of the Monastery. Specify the style being entered in the Notes section of the entry.

Categories

Judging will be done using a combination of 2008 BJCP style guidelines (50%) and hedonistic methods (50%). Entries will be accepted in only the following BJCP categories:

18. Belgian Strong Ale
  1. Belgian Blonde Ale
  2. Belgian Dubbel
  3. Belgian Tripel
  4. Belgian Strong Golden Ale
  5. Belgian Strong Dark Ale
 

16. Belgian & French Ale
       b. Belgian Pale Ale

5. Bock
       c. Doppelbock

Deadline, Shipping, and Drop off

Same as the Drunk Monk Challenge, February 17th – March 2nd, 2011.

Awards

Special MOM awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
