Menace of the Monastery (MoM) Competition

What is the Menace of the Monastery?

The Menace of the Monastery (MoM) competition of the Drunk Monk Challenge celebrates beer styles which can be traced to the monastic brewing traditions of Belgium and Germany. This unique competition is judged separately from the Drunk Monk Challenge. Menace of the Monastery beers do not make the Best of Show competition for the Drunk Monk Challenge. Special MOM awards are given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Entry Fee

$12.00 per entry online at DMC Registration.

Entry requirements

Only one (1) bottle/can required... same rules as the Drunk Monk Challenge. Add entries by using the special "MoM" styles.

Judging

Judging will be done using hedonistic methods rather than BJCP style guidelines. Scoresheets and feedback from MoM may be filled out in an honest but irreverant, punchy, tongue-in-cheek manner. Please do not be offended by some of the comments you may receive. It may be a competition but this part of the competition is also meant to be a little more lighthearted and fun.

Categories

Entries will be accepted in only the following BJCP categories:

9. Strong European Beer
  • 9A. Doppelbock
  • 9B. Eisbock
24. Belgian Ale
  • 24B. Belgian Pale Ale

  • 25A. Belgian Blonde Ale
  • 25C. Belgian Golden Strong Ale
26. Trappist Ale
