I need some new silicone hoses for the brewery and accidentally bought some that were way too thin for normal use.

What's the correct size for thicker hoses so I don't make the same mistake twice?

Why silicone? Isn't vinyl good enough?

Mine are 3/16" wall I think. I believe the ones I've got are 3/8"IDX3/4"OD, but anything 1/8"+ wall should be good. In general, to prevent kinking, the thicker the better.

Silicone is used for hot-side applications, especially when you will see temps over 125degF. Vinyl is 'technically' rated to 175degF, but it's pressure rating drops off over 100degF. Also, the thermal cycling will cause permanent deformation and 'aging', where the tubing become more brittle and prone to failure. Plus it has flavors that can be leached at high temps and releases chlorine if you burn it on accident.

Lots of the online homebrew shops have it. Or, if you want too many options, you can check out McMaster-Carr.

$2.20 per foot at ProFlow Dynamics:

Shipping gets you though.

There's a deal on Amazon for $23.60 ($2.36 per foot) for 10' of 1/2" ID x 3/4" OD. With Prime, shipping is free.

Should be just fine. Mine is stored in the garage so it sees freezing temps in storage and then using it at brewing temps is no problem.
