So I finally pulled the trigger and bought 20' of 1/2 x 3/4" silicone hose to go with my new (homemade) brew tower. I'm thinking now about disconnects. I see stainless from various online suppliers ranging in price from $2.50 to about $8.50. But there are also "valved" polysulfone (High temp food grade plastic) disconnects that run 2-3 times the price. I like the idea of disconnects that won't spill wort on the floor, but I've have no experience to judge how important this is.

Also wondering if the SS connectors get so hot they're difficult to use.

Finally, I also wonder about cleaning and sanitizing the valved units. They're used a lot in medical and chemical app's, but I don't have an autoclave in my garage. (I do have a big pressure cooker though...)

Anybody want to offer some advice?

I like my SS camlock fittings from barginfittings. They only get too hot to touch if you have direct heat below your kettle. For my plastic cooler style mashtun I don't have a problem handling them without gloves.

I use SS connectors and as previously stated, they don't usually get too hot to handle. I'll price shop the pieces and find a good deal.

Stainless Steel Male Quick Disconnect MPT - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0064 ... UTF8&psc=1
Stainless Steel Female Quick Disconnect BARB 1/2" - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JR ... UTF8&psc=1

Looks like I bought most of these through Amazon who bought them through the Bargain Buyers Club.
